and Villas: About Our Hotel
Occupying the historic Fondren mansion, originally built in 1923 as a private residence for the founder of Humble Oil, the landmark property now serves as one of the world’s smallest luxury hotels and the gateway to the Houston Museum District. Guests are within walking distance from an array of independent boutiques, cafes, entertainment venues and galleries and within close proximity to the Texas Medical Center, Rice University, downtown, River Oaks and Greenway Plaza.
The Mansion houses five, spacious and elegantly appointed one-bedroom suites, some featuring sitting areas and gracious private dining rooms, which can easily be utilized for small gatherings or business meetings. For those seeking accommodations more suitable to longer term stays, the adjacent Villas at the Court of Colombe provide nine, residential-style one-and two bedroom apartment suites with separate living areas and kitchens all clustered around a lush, central courtyard.
Generations of fairytales have come true at La Colombe d’Or Hotel, and we hope to make your wedding experience something to treasure forever with our grand spaces, gracious service, creative support and culinary sophistication.
Classically elegant and comfortably appointed, La Colombe d’Or Hotel’s light-filled boardroom can accommodate up to 12 people in grand style. Overnight guests can also utilize private dining rooms in each suite for small meetings, receptions and meals. For larger meetings and events, Le Grand Salon offers the flexibility of supporting a variety of group sizes and needs.
